Did you disable NetworkManager from running on start? The laptop does have a wireless button, but this has no effect on weather the wireless wireess or not the colours are normally orange with wifi off or blue for wifi on if this helps anyone. The time now is Even though I had my ethernet cable plugged into the laptop, it was still trying to reconnect to a wifi network in the house, and there is no telling how long this dialog box had been up, causing my cpu to run hotter.


The only issue I have is that I have never been able to get the wireless network working. I’ve also tried wicd instead of NetworkManager. Half the time it couldn’t even see any networks at all and, even when it can, it refuses to connect to anything – even unsecured networks – so Acapter gone back to using Network Manager.

The laptop has been tested with a live DVD of Athetos linux with kernel 2. Then again using rfkill killed the id 0. The problem is that the laptop is starting with the wifi default to off. I can connect fine to an unsecured network but can’t connect to a secured network.
